An Open Letter To My Writing Buddies
Studying English and Creative Writing has enabled me to meet a lot of people who are passionate about writing. Out of those people, I have created and nurtured a special writing relationship with a small number of those people. I affectionately call these people my writing buddies. They have been there for me as I grew as a writer. They have given me so much encouragement and constructive criticism. Without them, my writing would be nowhere near the level that it is today. So without further ado, here is an open letter to my writing buddies.
To my writing buddies,
I wanted to thank you for everything that you have done for me and everything you continue to do for me.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my work. I am grateful for your careful eyes, your kind encouragement, and your honest feedback. You have helped me develop my writing from a questionable first draft to a solid piece of writing.
Thank you for helping me grow a thicker skin and making me crave the in-depth feedback that I receive from you. Thanks for never being afraid to tell me that something in my story isn’t working. And for always telling me how to improve.
Thank you for giving me helpful suggestions during your criticism of it. Nothing is more helpful than someone saying they don’t understand something but they have an idea for improving the reader’s understanding.
And most of all, thank you for being passionate about everything I write. It is encouraging to me knowing that I have friends who value the hard work and dedication that it takes to write a story.
Thank you for being part of my life. I don’t know what I would do without you.
