My 2019 New Year's Resolutions
I can’t believe that it’s already 2019! I’m so excited to see what the year to come has to bring.For me, 2018 was a year filled with hardwork and blessings. I know that all the good things that happened this year were thanks to all my hard work and my mantra of working hard and playing hard.
I’ve met so many new people and solidified so many friendships over the year. I was the Creative Director for On the Danforth magazine, which was rewarding because at the end I was left with strong memories and a beautiful portfolio piece. I graduated from my post-graduate program in publishing, interned at House & Home, and got a job at HarperCollins Canada, working as the Creative Coordinator of Marketing. And best of all, my relationship with Mason has continued to bloom. We went on our first vacation together in July and got engaged a few days after my birthday in August.
Last year was amazing, so I’m looking forward to the year to come. As usual, I’ve set a couple of New Year’s resolutions to help make it the best year possible:
1) Read more books
Last year I wanted to read 10,000 pages over 30 books. Although I was unable to achieve my desired book count for the year, I read over 14,000 pages which is absolutely amazing. This year, I want to read more than that. I aim to read 35 books this year. I’m not going to set a desired page count but I do aim to read more pages than I read last year. Out of the 35 books I’m going to read, I am aiming to have 25 of them be from The Savvy Reader’s 50 Book Pledge! I’m not getting a numeric goal but I want to focus on reading more female and Canadian authors.
2) Write regularly
Since I finished school in April, I have lost my writing habit. I miss spending time writing and creating ideas for my blog. I spent time improving the layout over the summer but it still didn’t give me the motivation I needed to get back into biweekly posting habits. Now that the New Year has begun and I’ve settled into work, I am determined to get back into the habit of writing. I plan to post on my website twice a week and to write in my journal at least once a week. Ideally I would like to write in it more but I think weekly is an attainable target.
3) Focus on self-care
Over the past couple of months, I have been dedicating time to self-care. I want to continue to focus on taking care of myself and find new ways to relax and recharge so that I don’t get mentally drained as quickly.
